Cohen Children’s Medical Center has again been named one of the nation’s best children’s hospitals, according to the 2014-15 U.S. News & World Report ranking of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals.

U.S. News evaluated more than 180 children’s hospitals from around the country in 10 pediatric specialties.  Cohen’s ranked in the top 50 nationwide for five categories – no. 23 in pediatric urology, no. 31 in pediatric neurology and neurosurgery, no. 32 in neonatology, no. 43 in pediatric pulmonology, and no. 45 in pediatric gastroenterology and GI surgery.

The eighth annual ranking of children’s hospitals highlights the top 50 U.S hospitals in cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology.
Cohen’s is one of only 89 children’s hospitals nationally ranked in one or more specialties.
U.S. News published the first Best Hospitals ranking in 1990 to identify the best medical centers for the most difficult specialties. Recognizing the unique care children need, the publication launched the Best Children’s Hospital rankings in 2007 to serve as a guide to parents of children who need a high level of care.

The rankings are based on an extensive analysis of clinical and operational data collected from the hospitals, a reputational survey of board-certified pediatric specialists, and information from resources such as the National Cancer Institute.

The publication’s pediatric rankings were published on its website and will appear in the “Best Hospitals” print guide, available in bookstores and on newsstands Aug. 27.
